“Your time is running out.”
An old man wearing a bright baby blue tie and holding a fancy cane said as I woke up. He is sitting at the corner of the bed, watching me.
“Who are you? Why are you in here? I’m calling the cops, mister.” I said in panic.
He laughed as if he heard a full joke, clapping his hands together and leaning back. Then, he suddenly stopped and looked at me very seriously.
“Boy, I suggest you start running or else, we’ll meet again.” he playfully slapped me and left the room. I woke up again.

My lovely wife woke up next to me and groaned,
“Hey, what’s up with you?”
She rubbed her eyes and stood up.
“I’ll go make breakfast, weirdo,” and she threw a pillow on my face. Me? Still dumbfounded. Who’s that old man in my dream?
I got up and went to help my wife make breakfast for the both of us. After we’re done, we sat down and as she drank her coffee, she asked about earlier.
“I just had a really weird dream,” I said and sipped on my coffee.
“Oh, as usual,” she said.
She snapped her finger as if she remembered something important and took something from the shelf in the living room. She came back holding movie tickets.
“Let’s go watch a movie! I got this at work. They said it’s a really good film.”
Still thinking about the dream and the old man made me feel tired and declined my wife’s offer.
“Maybe some other time, honey.” I finished my breakfast and decided to drive around the neighborhood for a bit.

As I was driving, I heard someone sighed at the backseat and to my surprise, it was the old man again. I almost bumped with another car. Luckily, I was able to focus on driving.
“How did you get here? Who are you?” I said trying not to be hysterical.
“Oh boy, I said we’ll meet again. Although, I don’t really mean NOW. Are you going to run away?” he said. For a moment, I sensed a bit of concern in his tone.
“What are you talking about, sir? You’re really giving me a hard time here.”
“Alright, I’m sorry. You see, you need to wake up now, boy.”
And a second before I hit the car to a post, I woke up.
“Honey, what’s wrong?” My wife said with concern. She caressed my cheeks. Why am I in our bedroom?
“Why am I here?” I asked. The confusion is growing in my head.
“You passed out,” she said and smiled sweetly. Her face calms me down, but all of these doesn’t make sense anymore.
I asked her how long I was out, but she didn’t respond. She stood up and before she closed the door and talked to me.
“There is someone here who would like to see you, honey,” the door closed and in a few minutes, it opened once more and to my surprise, it was the old man who entered the room. I screamed and hysterically, I asked him why he’s here. He gave me a confused look.

“Excuse me, but I’m afraid this is the first time I’ve ever met you,” the old man said.
“Get out of my bedroom!” I protested.
He sighed and went closer to me. I felt my muscles stiffened as he went near. He looked at me from head to toe like he’s examining me.
“I’ll cut to the chase, your wife must have broken you again. Don’t worry, I’ll take you out of her dream.”
For some reason, what he said made sense. But, for assurance, I asked him, “What do you mean?”
“You and your wife had a car accident. You are just a figment of her imagination that won’t seem to end; a dream she has been in for years.”
“Why are you telling me to run away all these time?”
He leaned closer and locked eyes with me and said,
“She’s planning to kill you in here.”

My wife entered the room with a cup of coffee, blowing it like a little kid. The old man and I looked at her as she went closer. She handed me the coffee.
“Warm yourself up.” I sipped the coffee and handed it back to her. Her smile never seemed to leave her face. How can someone like her kill me? I smiled back at her.
My eyesight started to blur and I started to feel lightheaded. For a second, I saw my wife’s smile fade. Before I lost consciousness, the old man uttered,
“Love kills.”
